kai_hiwatari writes "It seems like the Ubuntu developers consider GIMP to be too powerful for a normal desktop user. So they are removing it from the upcoming Ubuntu 10.04. This actually feels like a good reason as most people uses GIMP as a "Paint"-like software."

  • Yeah, The Gimp is way too complex to be an MS Paint alternative... What alternatives are there though?
  • GIMP is a powerful piece of software, but it's also difficult to use.
    This isn't all that outrageous, as long as there's another piece of software that, while less feature-rich, can do photo cropping and such with a less-steep learning curve. The last thing the developers behind Ubuntu want is for users to get frustrated and switch back to Windows.
