olsmeister writes "On Tuesday, the Electronic Frontier Foundation announced its "Defend Innovation" project, which includes seven proposals for software patent reform. These proposals include things like shorter coverage for software patents, and a requirement to demonstrate running code for each claim in the patent."

Let's say the patent demonstration code is in C
Can I implement something similar in assembly language, and thus, circumvent the software patent?
Plus, I think EFF will meet with stiff opposition from the powerful association of patent lawyers - they are obviously exerting giga-profits from all the patent-related court cases, and they (the patent lawyers) ain't gonna let this goose that lay the golden eggs get slaughtered by EFF
